Herausforderungen – Challenges

Right now there are many challenges in my life, most of them are related to the CVJM Karlsruhe (the local YMCA in Karlsruhe). Presently I am the only fulltime employee there (There are two partime employees). Thanks to our lord this will change in September, when our new Chief arrives. In the meantime it is not easy having a place in the in between – and I am grateful for all the help, time and power so many people invest in our YMCA – your are building gods project in this city.
But there are greater challenges to come: Until now we haven’t even really started with our „living room“ Project and are fed up with so many things and tasks, we barely have time to go on there. Right now I am enjoying the deep breath before the plunge of the weekend.
God is presenting us with challenges and I feel that these are not just the pressure of our present circumstances, but there is so much more to explore, to seek out and to continue in the work he has alloted to us. The rather cheap excuse, that there is to much to do right now does not count.
I am more aware than ever, that the people around us need jesus, he loves them, he wants to guide them through their lifes. Often the quiet undertones in the stories of our youth move me most: Yesterday a joung woman talked casually about how many anorexic-disordered girls she knows, people who cut themself, people who are alone, let alone a relationship to jesus.
I organise, structurise, prepare, slave to the phone, but who much time do I spend with the people that need jesus?
It is a great challenge and a servere question for myself and it has to change! I will be preaching on sunday how to behave in the pusuit of jesus and I am ashamed, because I am so helpless and without a clue what to do and I am way way of the mark of being a disciple. Chapters 7 and 8 of romans offer advise and a new point of view and challenge me. I am glad about that. (links refer to german sites, so I removed them in the translation)
