Serie London 02. Kunst // Art

(translation below)

Was ist Kunst?

Just what is art? I really have no idea, but a gut feeling. It may be not as connected with the mind, so it appears to me – Art makes visible, palpable, what words are inapt to express. But this still does not do art justice. I still can’t say that I know what art is.
But I have taken steps, I think. The beginning of this process lies in my contact with the pictures of Rob Pepper (Link) – Rob underwent a journey to let these pictures emerge. He contemplated pictures in churches and copied them. Copied? No way, he recreated. The special thing being that he drew without looking at his hand. Shedding his prejudices (is shedding the right word? Leaving behind is the
concept…) His explaination is more to the point here – I do not dare to think I could explain it better than him (Link Doxology).
Robs Art, right at its process of coming into being, tells of his inner journey, making visible the invisible. This speaks in itself, communicates on different levels of our mind, moves feelings, gives a new expression of reality through the interaction of different elements. I use the word „expression“ and „becoming“ a lot lately, because I think, that art is more of a process. I think also that art is becoming a part of my life, perhaps already is. Please don’t take this to seriously as a Defintion of art – I’m just a beginner and a slow learner at that…
